![]() I changed ALL 100+ "odt" over to "doc" documents in OO 3.4. ![]() Lastly, I mainly use OO for Text Documents, since changing the "odt" to "doc" documents solved my problem. OO 3.4 must be so different from 3.3 B/C I have NEVER had to do this for any of the versions before. Thanks for the detailed instructions (You only left out an "Apply" and one other thing, but I figured it out:). Close Regedit and restart Windows Search. In the Value data box, paste the previously copied address of the temporary directory. Rename the new string value to "TempPath". Right-click SOFilter and select New > String Value. In Regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IFilterShop\SOFilter. Right-click the empty area in the address bar and select "Copy address". OK out, then double-click the new folder to open it. In the Permissions for Users box, check Allow - Full control. Click "Advanced" and uncheck the indexing option. Right-click the folder and select the General tab. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where you want to add the temporary folder (I put mine in C:\ProgramData). In the Services window, right-click Windows Search and select Stop or Start.Ĭreate a temporary directory for the SO Ifilter: ![]() Click Services in the list of found programs. Type "services" in the Start Menu Search Box. This will pollute the index and also can prevent temporary files from proper removal by OpenOffice IFilter? Otherwise temporary files may be indexed. How do you step by step complete this: When using custom temporary directory, we recommend that you set it as "not indexable" in all your indexing products. #4 is just start searching for something. Other than "Not Searching", how do you complete #1? Please make sure that "Users" or "Authenticated Users" Group has "Full Control" permissions to the custom temporary directory. If this value is missing, empty or the path is not pointing to a valid directory, system temporary directory will be used. Add new String value named "TempPath" and enter the full path to the new temporary directory. Open registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IFilterShop\SOFilter"ģ. For Window Desktop Search versions 3.x and higher OpenOffice IFilter must be set to work with user specified temporary directory. By default it uses system temporary directory. When integrated with Windows Desktop Search, OpenOffice IFilter uses temporary directory to process StarOffice/OpenOffice files. Located here: file:///C:/Program%20Files/IFilterShop/SOFilter/readme.html#_Additional_Setup_Steps I need step by step instructions for setting up the "Additional Set up Steps" for Windows Desktop Search for the "IFilterShop StarOffice/OpenOffice IFilter Desktop Edition Release 1.6 README" I just noticed that if I change the "odt" documents to "doc" documents, the search works like it did before. The partition of the HD containing the uT install folder has ~3GB of space left, so that the disk might be full is not an issue.Īny help out there? I'd greatly appreciate it.I may have figured this out (part way). I'm using uTorrent 1.6 (Build 474) on Windows XP SP2. I haven't been using it when I've gotten these errors. I myself have Copernic Desktop Search installed, but it is not set to search the uT folder, and it is disabled by default. Reading up on other threads, I see that people have had issues between uT and Google Desktop Search. I've been using both programs for months, though, and have never had any sense that they might be incompatible till now. I am currently also running ReGet Deluxe for DLing other files, and I noticed that when ReGet freezes, uT goes crazy with the "Unable to save the resume file" error, which starts appearing every few seconds. ![]() I have both a resume.dat and a file in the uT folder. The error is appearing now practically every 5-10 minutes, and I don't know what's causing it. But that would have been fine if it had solved the problem. I tried the suggestion in the FAQ to create settings.dat and resume.dat in the uT install folder, which ended up ruining things for me because I had to reset all my settings and RSS information. If you press Cancel, the resume file will not be saved." error a few times in the past, but all day today, it has been acting up and appearing a lot more than usual. Another program may have the file open, or the disk is full. I've gotten the "Unable to save the resume file.
